AGP2 CDSF delivers the 2nd ToT on Scaling up of Hedasse Wheat

The Capacity Development Support Facility (CDSF), in collaboration with the Oromiya Bureau of Agriculture and Natural Resources (BoANR), and the Capacity building for scaling up of evidence-based best practices in agricultural production in Ethiopia (CASCAPE) conducted a Training of Trainers (ToT) for scaling up of Hedasse wheat variety from 5th June to  8th , 2018 in Adama City.

Twenty  participants (4  women) drawn from three CASCAPE woredas in West and East Shewa agricultural offices, and the Oromiya AGP Program Coordination Unit took part in the training.

The training focused on agricultural extension approaches, methods and strategies and good agricultural practices for wheat.

The facilitators used group work, gallery walk, and plenary discussions during the training and each day, participants gave their comments and suggestions on how the training might be improved.

Participants rehearsed their instructional skills in front of the facilitators and trainees to improve their training skills during the training. In addition to developing their skills, the training gave them a clear idea on how to integrate cross-cutting issues of gender, nutrition and climate smart agriculture issues into their training. Participants vowed to roll out the training to front-line agricultural staff to scale up Hedasse wheat varieties in selected woredas during the current cropping year.
